Kaafi · Demo ProjectWhat a Café Website Can Do When It Has a Personality

Kaafi is a demo website we designed, wrote, and built for an imaginary specialty coffee café in Delhi, to show restaurant and café owners what their website could be: a full menu, events, workshops, a journal, and table reservations, all with a voice people remember.

The Brief

Kaafi is not a real café. It is a demo we made for the restaurant and café space, and we set our own brief: build the website we would want for a neighbourhood specialty coffee spot in Delhi, and make it good enough that a café owner could picture their own place in it.

Most restaurant and café websites stop at a logo, a few photos, and a PDF menu that is hard to read on a phone. But people decide where to eat and drink long before they walk in. They check the menu, look at the vibe, see what is on this weekend, and work out how to get a table. A café that is full of personality in person often has none of it online.

Our Approach

A personality first. We gave Kaafi a story before we designed a single page: two friends, one tiny espresso machine, and a long argument about the perfect cortado. The name plays on "kaafi", Hindi for "enough", because one cup never is. That idea runs through everything, from "Never Kaafi" stickers to the "one more?" prompt at the end of every page.

A look that feels like the café. Warm cream, deep coffee red, an elegant serif wordmark, and playful hand-drawn stickers of chai glasses, cookies, and latte hearts. It feels lived-in and a little cheeky, the way a good neighbourhood café does.

A menu people actually use. The full menu lives on the site, not in a PDF: 26 items across hot coffee, cold coffee, manual brews, toasts, bites, and bakes, each with a photo, a short description, a price, and tags like Bestseller, Vegan, or Seasonal. Guests can filter by category and switch between grid and list views.

More reasons to visit. A café is more than its menu, so events (open mics, vinyl nights, quizzes) and workshops (latte art, home brewing, croissant labs) each get their own page with dates, prices, and "fast filling" labels. A journal of brewing guides and coffee stories gives regulars something to read and gives search engines something to find.

Every page ends at a table. Reservations take a few taps, with guest count, date, and time, plus a WhatsApp option for people who would rather message. Address, timings, directions, and socials sit in the footer on every page.

The content. We wrote every word on the site, from the founders' story and menu descriptions to event blurbs and the journal, in a voice that is warm, funny, and unmistakably Delhi.

What We Delivered

  • A complete website: home, menu, events, workshops, journal, about, and table reservations
  • A filterable digital menu with photos, prices, and dietary and bestseller tags
  • Events and workshops listings with dates, prices, and availability
  • A table reservation form with WhatsApp booking
  • All the website content: the café's story, menu descriptions, event and workshop copy, and journal articles
  • A full visual personality: palette, typography, stickers, and motion
  • Search-friendly pages and share previews, so the café looks right wherever it is found or shared

The Outcome

Kaafi shows what we bring to restaurants, cafés, and hospitality brands: a website with real character that also does the practical work of getting people through the door, from browsing the menu to booking a table.

If you run a café or restaurant, this is a starting point, not a template. Your place has its own story, and we would build the site around that.
